    I'm a sucker for a decent pair of optics and was more than a bit cynical about the claims that Alpen are as good as binoculars that cost way more. I tried a pair of these out at my local outdoor store and thought they seemed pretty good so I decided I'd take them with the full intention of returning them in a few days. There is no way they could be as good as my Swarovski binoculars! Wow! What a wonderful surprise! These perform easily as good as my Swarovskis, so much so I got rid of them on ebay. If you haven't checked out Alpen give them a try you won't be disappointed.

    I took a pair of these on a recent canoeing trip. Not being the most coordinated person I managed to drop them when portaging a particularly nasty bit of swampy land. After a good clean up they were as good as new and still work as good as the day I got them.
