I lived at Portal in 1932. lived close to the John Hands place. my dad worked on the cattle ranch for him.My dad and mom was Jewel and D.B.Brabbin and we went to school there in Portal. We lived 1 mile away. but walked it everymorning. Knew the Lee Boys very well. They hunted mountain lions at the time. So many good memories. In Feb. 1951 my husband and I camped out aacross from the ranger station. and got to visit Mrs. Newman who owned the grocery store in the 30's. Such fond memories of such a great place. Any more info you may want if I am able to give do not hesitate. I have a very good memory. I often wonder where some of the younger kids at that time have gone to. and are they still around. Like Betty Walker (maiden name.) Well thanks for the wonderful pictures. Brings back a lot of memories.-- I do have pictures packed away. if you are interested I can find them and send.
