Swift Binoculars
Swift is one of the most highly respected brands in the world of binoculars. Swift also encompasses other famous names such as Audubon.
Swift has a company history going back to the 1920's, when Robert W. Swift, Sr. imported some of the first roof prism binoculars from Germany . That growth continued into the 1930's, when they expanded into telescopes and through to today, where they have recently expanded into larger headquarters in their hometown of San Jose.
Some binoculars by Swift
Swift carries a wide variety of binoculars.
At the low end of the price spectrum, the Aerolite 901SZ is a 7-15x25 pair of binoculars. These are well-priced (as low as $59), light weight (10 oz), and waterproof, but you can certainly find better quality binoculars, including others under the Swift brand. These might serve as a good introduction to the Swift brand or a fine pair of binoculars for the occasional enthusiast.
Another Swift lightweight is the Ultra Lite 961. These feature Porro prisms rendering high quality pixel sharp images in and 8x42. Originally, these were lighter in weight but you now get a lot of features you would not really expect in a lightweight. These include waterproofing, better armoring, long eye relief, and sharp clarity right to the edge of the viewing field. That's a good list of features for a top brand name pair of binoculars that lists for $220 to $250 and can be found for even less online.
The 704B Cougar is a smooth pair of scopes for easy handling in any terrain. These come with classic BaK4 prisms, and weigh in at 21 ounces. The close focus is nothing to write home about, but the field of view is a significant 367 feet. You can find these for as little as $119 online.
